Hello to all,

I'm starting to mod my Legacy turbo 1993. I've done the air cone, i have a Sard R2D2 dumpvalve (not fitted) and looking to de-cat the beast on thursday. Whats next in the tuning process?

I've been told by a pal that i just block the airbox end and then attach dumpvalve to the intercooler end + the thin pipe on the dump.
What do you think? Will i hurt it like this?
Help me

Yeah, that will work. Be careful of the Intercooler side pipe, though: it is plastic, and a bit fragile!

I dunno what kind of dumpvalve you have: If it is not a Piston Type there are associated problems with air going back in the wrong way, causing the car to run like crap.

Also be aware that your car will usually run rich with a 'vent to atmosphere' i.e. Non-Recirculating dumpvalve fitted, as you are venting charge to the atmosphere instead of back into the system, so the MAF sees more air being sucked in to replace that which you just vented, and adds it to the air it thinks is already there (which isn't becuase you dumped it) and adds extra petrol accordingly. Good for pops and bangs, not so good for the fuel economy and (sometimes) you will get black soot on the back of the car.

Soloution is either to get it remapped to allow for the dumpvalve, or get a recirculating type and a nice airfilter/induction kit so you can hear it

You won't have any serious probs, though.

Good Luck.

What about the cat can it simply be removed without effecting the running of the car? Is there sensors in the cat?
After that what next?

Thanks

No sensors in the Cat..just a Lambda sensor in the downpipe (which most cars will have a hole for, so you just move it into the new pipe). Downpipe will give you more noise and a faster spool up, but a little less off boost torque (apparently).

WARNING! Before you go tuning your car too much I would STRONGLY advise you to invest in some protection.
Sooner or later (sooner the way you are going) you are going to come up against the fuel cut. This will protect you from blowing your engine to bits.

At that point you will be looking to fool the ECU into not Fuel-Cutting at 1.1bar (or whatever it is).

I cannot strongly stress the importance of buying an AFR meter!
This will give you a nice red light when your Air/Fuel mix is dangerously lean. I would also reccomend a KnockLink: This will give you a nice blue light when dangerous detonation occurs: without both of these, as soon as you switch off the ECU's fuel cut, you are at serious risk of a nasty crunch coming from your engine.

This is just an advance warning. I haven't bought mine yet!

Whereabouts are you?

I've got a 'FIELD simple fuel computer' with turny **** that say low, med, high and a blitz twin soleinoide boost control from my old car, can i make use of either of these?
De-Cating tomorrow morning
I'm trying to get the bitch chipped aswell.

Somebody stop me

P.s. heard a pop today!
