one of my closest friends of 10 years and colleague ( there was only 2 of us in the shop)was killed on wednesday after a bike accident, you may have read my earlier thread on this.
after i posted the thread, ptholt(peter) let me know that he passed the scene of the accident.
since that time, he has taken time out to email me with kind words of support and what he saw etc.
being on my own in the shop at the mo, its nigh on impossible to get down to arundel at the moment, but will be able to very shortly.
today, peter laid some flowers at the scene for me. ive never met peter. yet he sent me his home address for the interflora delivery, freely volunteered to do this, and in his own free time, drove to arundel and laid the flowers for me.
i must say ive been taken aback with the words of kindness form you lot this week.
this week has been bad. my girlfriends dad and brother are stuck in america and terrified of flying back, my house move completed and then the removal firm backed out on us today, and one of my closest friends being killed wednesday. truly sh1tty!
ive not posted much, but ive been reading, and its all cheered me up more than you'd believe.
so, from the bottom of my heart, i'd like to thank peter publicly. a true gentleman, and i will be forever grateful for the kindness youve shown. sorry to embarrass you peter, but its the nearest thing i can do to giving you a hug.
to everyone else on scoobynet. thank you. thank you for being you. for being kind.
this bbs is truly remarkable
best wishes to you all

thanks deep
just out of interest deep, and off the topic. i noticed in a recent thread youre a doctor.
now, if you were to argue with someone, say down the pub, and you smacked him on the nose, would u be morally obliged to rush to his aid and put right the damage u did a moment before? its just something ive always wondered. once upon a time i was a medic in the RN. we used to have to do patrols round the base with a pick axe handle my argument with the brass was if i beat an intruder up, would/should i immediately try to rectify the damage ive done, and wouldnt it be better if i didnt do the damage in the first place
i seemt to argue wherever i go
if thats the case, then its reassuring to know i crossed swords in the past with a medical man
best wishes

Leigh,
Sorry to here of your loss.
I hope your your family get back safely (I too have friends trapped out in the US, looks like there is a good chance of them being able to return early next week, very worrying times though).
I'm glad to see that much as we fight on the BBS over who's car is faster/uglyier/cheaper etc, we can still help each other.
All Sympathy mate,
Jon

The thank you's are received with thanks, though i think most people here would have done the same in my position.
As for a hug spudgun, living so close to Brighton you know how people would talk
Next thing you know someone would have caught it on a camera and we'd end up in the muppet gallery.
