A mate is buying an MY00 wagon..

So this poses the question in my head... among other things..

Put them side by side on an airfield and with similar launch and driver skill what will happen?

I know my 96 has a TD05 turbo which is quite laggy but it first there is not much so although the VF turbo in the MY00 will come it at a lower RPM, I would expect him to be on full boost first and me not long after so about equal through first gear.. into second and I will have the full boost straight away as high rpm.. his turbo will be at the end of its power band and I might pull ahead slightly, and so on in each gear...

Or will his extra 7bhp even that out?

Obviously my car has done many more miles which will probably mean it is down on power anyway, but I just wondered.

When AutoCar mag tested a MY00 not so long ago it posted faster times than the 96MY it tested a few years previously.
Think 0-60 was cut by half a second (5.8 verses 5.2) 0-100 fell by a few secs from 18secs to 14secs (from memory) & 30-70 was cut by over half a second (again from memory)
No doubt that the later cars are quicker on paper, however there probabky wouldn't be much in it in reality.
If I had to bet my house on a race I would back the MY00.

Hi mate I have a my00 which I think is quite quick but before this I had a my95 which I thought was a total animal I think power in the 2 are roughly the same not really noticable the big differance is the my00 is more quiter more refined and more smoother.
