It's a fair point though, lets not all get taken in by propoganda - loss of life in these proportions is always terrible, our reaction though is often in line with how the media want us to perceive it.

Luke - Sometimes its difficult to understand the tone of a comment on the internet.
I understand your point. Unnecessary loss of life is always terrible. My best friend was murdered by the IRA when he was 18.
I am quite happy to be corrected but I was under the impression that the Rwandan massacre was carried out by Rwandans and therefore amounted to civil war. The situation the Western world now finds itself in is a little different IMHO

P1.
That depends on what you mean.
1. Round one was the Attack. Round two will be Americas response.
2. Or me and Doc where having some sort of battle.
Just two humans having a chit chat thats all.

Maybe issues like this should be looked at whether they are an internal issue, or put upon them from external sources, which ever way you look at it, people have still lost their lives.

Its all about media access that deems whats important. I don't believe its a black/white thing, purely about who's got the money.
How can we realistically start a war against Terrorists across the globe when its well known than many people in the US financially support terrorist organisations in the UK.
Do we mean only terrorists with a problem against the US ? or maybe only Arab ones ? The current government that allegedly hides the US prime suspect was sponsered by the US CIA during the Afgan war. Little or nothing of that is mentioned.

Sorry, but 65000 Rwandans getting shot doesn't make as good television.
Rwanda, where is that exactly?
etc etc etc
These are not my opinions, merely my opinions on why the situation is as it is.

The Rwandan affair may have been a civil war, but it's my understanding that many of those killed were innocent people (women/children etc.) who wanted no part in the conflict. Their deaths were a tragedy.
It is an interesting subject (perhaps not timely). I believe Noel Gallagher had a temporary moment of sound thinking when he criticised the nation for grieving more over a dead Diana than their own dead parents.
An innocent death, is a tragic death, no matter what country or conflict it's caught up in. The Rwandan attrocities didn't receive enough attention IMO.
I simply pray that the NY terrorist attack doesn't start an escalation resulting in more innocent deaths, whether they be far eastern or western.

Excellent point.
Perhaps now that America has seen the devestation caused by such terrorist attacks first hand, those (in the public at least) who do provide such funding in the UK and elsewhere may have a different attitude.

Good point. I think it's is EXACTLY the time to make such points. I'm still as guilty as anyone else who has done nothing for such people, but feel that at least I'm not under the illusion that this recent disaster in the US is any worse than what is happening all over in far flung corners of the world that we don't really care about.
The ramifications of it are however chilling, because the US is 'lucky' enough to posess the wealth to afford it the weapons to inflict huge damage in response and dare I say it 'revenge'. 'Fortunately' some of these poorer nations and peoples do not posess the same firepower to retaliate, and hopefully the whole episode will serve to make all aware of how fragile things are and how close we could be to a war of catastrophic impact - and also enlighten us to just such other plights of desperation or acts of evil/aggression/revenge that because the victims are not wealthy westerners we do not hear about.
