Private Land/Airstrip/Dragstrip required
#1
My brother has just got an Audi TT (I know, I know !!!) and wants to do some high speed runs and driving that would not be suitable on the public road.
Looking for some private land, possibly airstrip or a circuit that would hire out time on an hourly basis.
Does anyone know of anywhere, preferably in the South or Midlands?
Cheers

Looks like Enstone is going to be the best option (thanks Tim). Spoke to them this morning and they hire out £30 per hour. Very helpful as well.
Going to check out Bovingdon though, just need to get some contact details. Can anyone help?
Also thanks to Paul for his help.

You wouldn't happen to have contact details for Enstone would you? Email me please if you don't want to give them a public airing to the address in the profile

For using Enstone Airfield you need to speak to Oxfordshire Sports Flying Club who can be contacted on 01608 677208. Speak to either Mike or Ray, very helpful. Is located on the A44, just north of Oxford.
They have a 400 metre strip you can use, and also a longer strip if required for special testing, but is shared with light planes!!! Be careful!!!

Enstone runway is always active during daylight. But it is quite wide so for car testing you use one side of the runway, light aircraft the other. As the runway sits on a hill one end isn't visible from the other end. Therefore, I wouldn't suggest that more than one car at a time is possible (or safe). You can imagine the problems coming over the creat at 100+mph and seeing a car coming the other way.
Oh, and last time we were up there we couldn't actually use the full length due to some politics.
Cheers

Ian,
Thanks for the info. Was a bit confused when the guy said that I share the runways with the planes.
On the politics thing, the airfield apparently is owned/operated by 4 or 5 different organisations, so I guess that may have something to do with it.
They have told me that the 400m strip will be solely be available to me/my brother and the longer main runway will be shared with the planes. To be honest the 400m strip might be enough.
