Sainsburys Fuel

I see that both Sainsburys and BP are companies shown on the new "Nectar" rewards card...
Now, these companies are usually part of the same larger company framework, so what I was wondering is this.....
Do Sainsbury sell BP fuels as their own on their forecourts? Its just that Sainsbury are the only petrol station in and around Wakefield that I know of that sells SUL.
Just a thought. Anyone in the know?

dunno about Sainsbury's / BP - doesn't everybody get it from about 3 places in the coutry and it depends what's in the bucket they chuck into the tanker etc after it's left? (technical or what )
how far out of wakey do you want to go? Texaco at Shaw Cross (opp playing fields) has SUL. don't know about Texaco on xroads but it's owned by same crowd AFAIR.

Who supplies petrol to who is all about location and little to do with branding. Irregardless of whose name it is on the forecourt the be it Sainsburys,BP,Shell,Tesco etc,etc chances are that it all comes from a refinery that is relatively local. I pass a refinery every morning and tankers from every petrol brand that you can think of fill up there. Supermarkets do not have their own refineries, they have to buy it in from one of the big oil companies. Yes the tankers maybe logoed up with Tesco, etc, etc but it will be from a major oil company.

I'd have thought a co. would buy a basic grade fuel (92/95/97/98 RON etc) and then chuck in their own special brew of additives to tweak it as they wanted - could be wrong tho'
there'll prolly be some leeway between grades anyway as you can "adjust" as necessary within limits

As above: I work at the refinery in Grangemouth, they have their own filling gantries where they add their own additives. It is the same base spirit to BS something or other.

Hi folks
I work for Sainsburys as a manager and can confirm that the petrol we sell comes from pretty much the same place as everyone elses. It is supplied to the forecourts in trucks run by Linkman who haul our containers. Additives are put in the fuel at the refinery like has already been mentioned.
I also have a friend who uesd to be an area manager for Esso and she said that the supermarkets get the stuff from the same refineries.
As for the Nectar Card, it can be used in the petrol stations. If you are really smart you can pay for it on your barclaycard and get points and then hand over your Nectar Card which will also earn you points.
