Question

OK So it's a light car, but the buffeting my my99 takes from side winds seems a bit OTT for a car that's so well planted on the ground..., anyone agree/disagree or should I just eat more pies?

LJK Setright mentioned that about Scoobs in Autocar many years ago. Mind you he did also use the phrase "splendid brakes", though maybe he was taking the p1ss with that bit

Moves around more than my A4 Quattro did but that's the penalty for lightweight build and direct steering I suppose (compared with the Audi). Noticed it today actually - still stops me being 'one hand on the wheel'

First thing I noticed about the MY00 was that it was badly affected by side winds for its size when I drove it . One advantage of my new MY02 is that it does not seem to be as badly affected - first positive thing about all the extra weight added then !

not always a size thing, it's not the basic side force from the wind that does it.

My old SD1 was the heaviest car i've owned and it was worst affected. My 200sx was the lightest and was least affected.

Can't say i've noticed it at all in the scoob (MY94)..... yet.

Maybe it's just a Scottish problem because of good old 'Hurricane Hamish' and 'Tornado Tammy'....!

Forget the wind - aren't you overdue up there for a 'decent' snowy winter ? Whatever happened to 2 - 3 weeks at a time of the stuff ?
