Do what I did and buy the wife a car and keep the P1.
I am on my second child ( 4 weeks old ) and third scoob.
The eldest used to love my old scoobs and was especially fond of the Scoobysport bax box.
The leather seats came in very useful for cleaning up the accoutriments of sitting a child in a car, but the P1 gets a good vacuum every two weeks now.

Congratulations.
I would suggest you move away from a two door for whilst it is possible to put child seat in the back it is a lot of stretching.
I had an STi wagon which was fine for two kids + kit but a squash with three child seats in the back when the third arrived. I also changed the suspension to Prodrive as this was much more comfortable and improved the handling.
Kids loved driving in it and were only sick once on a Welsh mountain road. (They do not travel well in 'softer' cars though).
STi wagon is a little less obvious as well.

Hi Folks,
People in similar positions, give me your opinions on the following situation.
Great news, I'm going to be a dad.
Wife is super cool about keeping the P1 but I'm not sure I can live with the security risk for family, not bothered when it's just me. So do I:
a) Keep the P1 and struggle with 2 doors, a recaro baby seat and live with the theft/security/car jacking nightmares or
b)swap in P1 for a Forester Turbo and get a Yamaha R1
c)swap to a PPP 5 door MY01
Don't want to burden you all with personal rubbish, but I really can't thing of the best solution. Comments welcome.
Cheers,
Pete

What an awful situation to be in
I assume you are only interested in UK cars, so an STi wagon is out of the question.
Of the 3 choices, I would go for the UK PPP wagon. 2 doors with baby seats will drive you nuts in the P1, and, fine car that it is, the Forester may seem too different to the P1 in terms of handling/power.

Well I know a bloke with a P1 and he's got a baby seat in the back. If you can't cope just get a Metro for everyday run arounds. That way you also stop baby food and sick from sticking to you're nice seats in your p1
