Newbie Scooby owner soon !!

Hi All,
Can someone please give me some advice, within the month I will have between £8-10k to buy an Impreza..
I do not have much of a clue where it comes to Imprezas so I thought I would ask on here
I would like one that is going to be quite breathtaking to look at, so which model ??
Would have to be turbo and over 200bhp !!
Prefer 2 door but what ever !!
Have looked at a 555 ltd edition R plate Scooby locally at £8495, just loved it, but not the colour I wanted..
Could anyone direct me to a site which will have the specs of Imprezas !!
Many thanks

Gaz,
I'm also looking for a Scooby in the Bournemouth area at the moment.
Try Chaplegate the main dealers in Ferndown, they have some very nice 97/98 saloon's for between £8500 and £9500.

Gaz,
how old are you just for the record?
Before you even start looking at scoobs you should be looking at insurance (check out the insurance forum) and then look at maintenance costs for scoobs (twice yearly and normally one is a biggie).
As for going to look at 2 door cars, they will be jap imports, these cars can only reliably run on 100 ron fuel which isnt available in the uk (closest we have is optimax at 98.6) so octane booster is recommended (around 2.50 a bottle, 1 bottle = 1 tank full of fuel).
Age dependant again is whether you have a uk or jap car, insurance will be more expensive on a jap car but the earlier ones are not that much more powerful than the early uk cars.
Anyway, why dont you like the 555 ltd edition car's colour (should be sonic blue, same as the P1 and 22B ) as we all know this is THE best colour to get a classic shaped scoob in

If you are serious and are not some crazy person then you may want to check the southern events forum, there is a meet on Monday nght out in Sandford. There will possibly be a good mix of cars to look at there.
If you turn up and are a thieving git then we will get Big Goon to sit on you! I've not met him yet but he scares me
From your post you could do with doing your homework though

Thanks for all the replies much appreciated..
As for my age, well I am 42 possibly too old for an Impreza I know
Nice too know about the Japanese imports, looks like I will stay clear of them, I have looked on Autotrader and the choice is phenomenal, one in particular stood out was this :
1995 M , 45k on the clock, Met Silver, Air-Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Central Locking, Electric Folding Mirrors, Electric Windows, Power Steering, Stereo.SVA Tested, £7995
As for the servicing etc I would keep enough money back to hopefully cope with those bills..
The 555 is in Cars to Go Winton, but unfortunately in red ( no offence to red car owners )
Could you tell me what you consider to be the ages of a classic shaped Impreza ?
Might just turn up at the meet in Sandford, would be interesting to see what is around, as for being a thieving git not me governor
Regards

2 door will have to be an import as I thought the only UK two doors are the 22B and the P1 - way out of your budget
I have had a Sport for three months and am now desperate to get into a turbo, just seen a Red WRX import on a K plate, 94,000 miles in local garage for £6,995. Don't regret having bought the Sport but am ready to move up

Gaz,
classic shape is upto and including MY00, everything after that is bug eyed
Ok, as we know your age now, try liverpool victoria for insurance, they are more friendly to the over 30's in this category (ie high performance cars ) so you should get a good deal there
There is also no need to be afraid of the Jap imports, the only thing you need to look out for is that they have had proper maintenance and that they have had high octane fuel run in them (and hopefully octane booster) you can get around the high octane fuel by having a different ecu fitted but these are a little on the expensive side (pre det is a big killer of jap scoobs as people have found out )

Chapelgate are probably the most expensive dealer in the known universe. I would look further a field...
Dont be scared of imports but check them carefully, too many around these days...
I might go and have a look at the winton one...
Also try A-Plan on 0845 0711234 for very good import insurance. I paid 900 ish for my STi.

Hi Rich
I know what you mean they seemed fairly expensive, but certainly some nice examples down there though..
Have been looking at a few on Autotrader in Kingston, London, very nice with some good prices also !! the only thing that worries me is I do not know the first thing about Imprezas and what to look for when buying one, so will defo get an AA or RAC check done for sure..
The one in Winton is now out on the road forecourt, I went to have another look at it yesterday, but there is something about it still saying to me No !! Too plain for my liking !!
Still I have another 3 weeks before I get the money so will carry on looking
Regards
