A difficult question, I know; but how long could I feasibly keep the car without it costing the earth to keep on the road, assuming no major accidents.
Although I've thought about trading in several times over the past year (P1s and STI VII come to mind), it always comes down to the fact that I'd be paying off the depreciation over the next 3-4 years and end up with a car that's worth the same as mine is now.
I've seen Legacys around my area that are 10 years old or more, but as the Impreza tends to get driven differently, I was wondering whether this would greatly shorten the life of the car.
Anybody with one of the older 93-94 cars going strong ?

don't see imps apart from mots but we've a couple of legacies round here that come in and ones a turbo that gets driven like its competing on the San Remo Rally. apart from heavy brake and tyre consumption and numerous body pannels that have been hit its been amazingly reliable.
actually thinking about it we only see it for mots but i know how often he sevices it and consideing the fact he basically doesn't its a bloody miracle its going at all

MY99 81,000 miles, gearbox goodbye!
MAF Goodbye, clutch goodbye (x 3), O2 sensor, wheel bearings the list goes on....
Probably perfectly reliable if you drive it like it wasn't designed to be driven.... ie. slowly

MY99 75k.
Still young at the mo, but clutch being replaced as we speak.
Nothing else needed replacing yet (apart from O2 sensor).
Fingers crossed I'll be saying the same this time next year, when I will have clocked over 100k.

96 UK Turbo wagon.. 107k miles..
Problems so far :
Front oil seal leak.. (change it with the cambelt at 90k or expect a leak at 100k)
Central locking on the boot broken
Rear windscreen wiper doesn't work..
Thats it.. I would describe my driving at Spirited but most of it is motorway..
Looks and drives perfect IMHO..
There are a few other threads about with this kind of info in, try searching on 'Mileage'..

MY93 WRX, approx 100k miles, been in the UK since I imported it in Jan 2000.
Still going strong. Only changed normal stuff in about 50,000 miles of UK driving (maybe a third of which is m/way) - cambelt, plugs, oil changes, several changes of brakes ( ), thats about it.
Only problem seems to be the countless stonechips acquired since arriving in the UK, although no signs of rust anywhere.
