Can anyone confirm if the MY01 quickshift linkage is the same as the previous models (MY98-00 etc). I thought it was different but my dealer say it is the same ?

Bob

It is different. You could get a MY00 version to fit, but it would be very stiff and may cause the rubber to split.

IMHO the MY01 does not really need the quick-shift anyway.

Tony, for most people whom have never had quickshift I would agree the exisitng linkage is great, however having had it on my previous car for 3 years I miss it and I am intending fitting it again. Could you elaborate any on the stiffness and any known difference between the linkeages.

There is a difference - you cant fit the old cars kit into the new car. GGR have a kit available - but its the whole shift assembly (like prodrives) not just the arm (like you can get for £89 off them) so its £200+

Not sure what to do myself. Anyone been quoted fitting price from dealer for MY01 yet?

Cool

guy at work is getting his MY01 in Oct and has been quoted £150 for a quickshift - i'm almost sure thats a fitted price.

quite a bit cheaper than a MY00 quickshift where i was quoted £245 for it sometime ago. actually got it done last week for a nice cheaper price and am now v happy with it.

Just had mine done. Part was 180 + vat + fitting. I think £260 in all - mixed in with a service & stuff so hard to say exactly.

Bob

Unable to elaborate much further. I had a MY00 with quick-shift. I was hoping to take it off and fit it to the MY01, but having sought the advice of a certain Mr Wood, I was told it would not really be viable without a bit of tinkering which is not my bag.

But, I can safely say I don't miss it.

Question

Now thats odd, cos Subaru Technica UK are stating that the MY'01 Q/S is the same as the previous models...

And they've sold me one on this basis.

DT, was that the fitted price for MY01 ?, as it would appear that would be around the price of using a pre MY01 linkage.
I notice that the GGR MY01 linkage is actually listed on their site as a legacy linkage if you follow through onto the ordering page ?. I think I will try several dealers.

Cool

Just to close this thread, Quickshift now fitted with an improvement to gear change. I personally feel it is a worthwhile upgrade for a cost of £180 + VAT fitted. The MY01 quickshift linkage is the same part as the pre MY01 models (part No.SACC2296).

Bob,

Much happier with mine now. Fit a Momo gearknob - you can get a few that match the stearing wheel centre - lots in Halfords. Shortens the shift further as the OE **** is comfortable but long. Much better changes now and loos cool.

DT, Graphite momo fitted and I agree with you fully. Previous "wooly" gearchange now a lot more definite and of course a lot shorter.
JZA I checked around several dealers most quoted £250 fitted. I think because I was getting my 1k service done from the dealership I have used for the last 3 years I maybe got it a bit cheaper. I suggest you phone around and also check the part cost you are being charged. I reckon fitting time must have been under an hour.

Jza,

Simpsons in Highworth Swindon did mine for 180 + VAT & fitting. This included a 10% SIDC discount. I reckon it cost about £260 all in as I has a 7500 service, fully synth oil, tracking done, and a couple of other bits and it all cost £400.

I ordered my quickshift today from CD Bramalls Cheltenham for £250 which includes VAT and fitting. Seems to be the going rate.

Wink

I was quoted some time back £450 by a renowned local dealership but must give them a call if £250 then looks like red bank balance month
