Sounds like a bit of both is the way to go. Don't think I'll go to the 60 kg extreme though.
I agree with you Disco - soundproofing the wife is a much better option - do you think she could still breathe through dynomat

I had my first Scooby dynomatted and it was the first thing I did to my latest.
It makes a big difference to the sound inside the car, and makes the doors shut with a more BMW like sound (OK, BMW might be stretching it slightly...).
You should do each door on both the outer and inner skins, and also use the roadkill type spray to fill in the nooks and crannies.
You will use about 2 sheets for each front door and slightly less for the back, and maybe 2 cans.
Downsides are the time it takes to put the stuff in and the weight. Also you want be able to get the bodykitted mk3 escort type reaction to your subs as you drive down the road, as you can't hear the stereo outside the car.

The wife is getting on at me to make the Scoob quieter.
Rather that lose the decat system, I need to soundproof the car.
Has anyone used Dynomat (or similar) and found it to be any good. What about exhaust wrap - would that be any benefit ?
Cheers

I had the boot dynamatted when the stereo was installed, and even now with a complete straight through Scoobyspprt system, the noise inside the car is never intrusive (even high speed motorway cruising).
