Well I saty through the whole thing and 98% of the vehicles that they showed and discussed were Toyota Lancruisers & other big 4x4's. I only saw 3 Skylines and 1 EVO6, never saw any signs of any Scoobs there.

They say that the cars are stolen in Japan and shipped to Dubai for vehicle identity changing. The checks that wer emade by the UK police we to compare the VIN Plate with the numbers on the Chassis and most of the time they say that they are incorrect thus leading to the vehicle being repossed and held for auction or return to the japanese owner/insurance company.

Well I think it's a big panic over nothing, my car came straight from Japan and I've the documentation to prove thet. Basically any connection with UAE or Dubai is the worrying sign of a dodgy car.

O.M.

Well it was sensationalized and over blown to an extent, I guess that as my car came from Jap and doesn't show any signs of ringing, the signs are good, won't be good for residuals though!

Aye, that car yard had its fair share of dubious characters.

There was actually one Scoob earlier on in the program being stopped by UK police. The web site also reckons on the Subaru being stolen in relatively small numbers.

Charlie

The chassis and VIN are the same thing. On the scooby they are on plates located on both front strut housings under the bonnet, and stamped on the bulkhead on the drivers side if I remember correctly,

Cheers Shark, I'll double check them. I should be ok though as I got an independant check done and they were supposed to check this, so if it's wrong I'll claim back off them

Looks like PS Lewis was right all along, there so crap they don't even nick scoobs in japan. By the way where the f#ck are the Dubai police or isn't there any since the Empire left. Why does the UK export all its money on stolen cars when there just sitting there waiting to be recovered, don't the Jap insurance companies have an atlas. Long Live UK residuals. 0870 010 7070 for a free BICYCLE if you missed it I expect I'll need one of those Mt Etna suits for this post, never mind

No you don't need a flame suit sasman, remembering to release the clutch on your brain before your mouth set off might be a nice idea tho
