Sadly my brother in law was following me so kept to a pretty steady 80 to 90 mph, but even so was suprised to get such good economy. Standard UK WRX.

A steady 70mph all the way (we were going with friends in an Isuzu Trooper so couldn't go too quickly)

Normal to-from work driving I usually get around 20mpg

Just got back from France last nite. Towed a 15' caravan down via the Rhine valley, then across the cevennes and the Massif Centrale to the perigord, came back with a new trailer, v. heavily laden, 5-up, and 4 bikes on top. Didn't exactly hang about, and have averaged 20.5!!!!!

Yep pretty much the same for me - 27mpg average speed 90mph. Fully laden with aircon.

With French roads being so quiet you don't have to keep slowing down and I reckon this plays a major part in improving the fuel economy.

I don't think my scoob is uneconomical. Sure it can go low, but that's when you use the full performance. What do expect for a 200+ bhp car?

Just shows how rich the standard MY00 runs then, I average 21 on short journeys (up to 50 miles) and the best I've got is 25 on a long run . With a lead right foot and aircon on drops to 15 / 16!!

MY 97 Sport ran from Junction 29 MI 2 adults 2 teenagers and luggage and topped up at South Mimms. Right filled up Asda £20, 71.60 a litre previous day. Mimms 75/76 litre not sure, pumped £15 in. Did not race took my time around 60mph. So what does that work out at ??????. 20 Euro in Belgium another 20 in France £10 in at Leicester Forest. Covered just around 700 miles. And no clever remarks about racing in a Sport.

In normal usage I get around 27mpg, the best so far is 29.5mpg on a long (mainly motorway) run. Worst came in at 19mpg.

somehow managed 31 mpg on a very consistant 80-85 mpg run down the A1 for 200 miles.(00MY,optimax,standard apart from obligitory scoobysports box and a boot full of ice) Was a warmish day, but too cold to havbe the aircon on.

I think the key is the fact that at 85 mph the throttle is hardly open. Still pretty gobsmaked tho, especially considering the disruption to my cruise from all the roundabouts and speed cams on the A1.
