First it gives that warning box that says "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down etc etc" then I click on that and another box pops up that says "This operation has been cancelleddue to restrictions in affect on this computer. Please contact your systems administrator"
Help.

well im no expert but it sounds like something is conflicting with it. Try copying the setup program to your hard drive and install in safe mode (from your drive), this is if you're not runing nt?
Or try installing the demo from ecutek web site as this seems to do the same job iirc as long as you have your dongle and everything plugged in.

I got the demo software from the web site. I hooked up the connection to car under dash and also my thing is plugged in back of computer. I then opened the ECUTEK program and it still said demo mode. I tried to get it to acknowledge my car but just stayed in demo mode ?

Get this:
I downloaded the demo version from the ECUTEK website. I go into it and mess around and try and switch it out of demo mode, the following message pops up:
You Ecu Tek license key is functioning correctly, but it does not contain a license for the DeltaDash product. Demo will resume.
Now what do I do ??

Looks like I may have been sent a malfunctioning license key. When I take out the key it recognizes that it is not there. So the key is showing up but as stated above it does not have the right stuff on it. Just my luck

HHxx, Unfortunately it says the drivers have been installed but it just keeps saying that the key does not contain the license for the delta dash, sucks ! Can't believe I have been sent a faulty key. I hope they overnight a new one to me no questions asked :/
We will have to see.

Where did you buy it from? MRT? You should have got a CD with your kit and not have to download the demo software from the website. I got my Delta dash off EcuTek in the UK and the kit contained the DesKey, CD ROM EcuTek Delta Dash software, a book, plug for the dash, the cable and a nice case. Best thing is to contact who you bought it off. Maybe it is in fact a dud licence key.

Razor,
EcuTek can email you the keys you need to update the DesKey (as long as it's working which it sounds like it is) so mail them and they should be able to sort it out for you.
What O/S are you running BTW? It does sound like you are running NT/Win2K/XP and don't have Local Admin rights, which I suspect you need!

Wrexy the reason it was suggested that the demo software was downloaded was because he was having problems with the sofware he was provided with i.e the cd and was wanting to get it to work that night. Im sure now that its a new day he can get in touch with ecutek.
Cheers
