If you have a standard WRX already then probably not unless your driving under track conditions.
The short shift 6 spreed was for me the most impressive part of my test drive.
I've seen some good deals on virgincar for a type UK with 13 week delivery! Might give you some good bargining power with a main dealer.
Where is your test drive?

Depends what you like i guess. I considered hacking in my 99 V-Limited STi for a new Sti until i drove one!

Deadly Dull by comparison!

But, if i was driving big distances each day then i'd definitely consider it....

Good luck!

If the car has been run in, and you can use the full rev range, you will notice a big difference in acceleration. trust me the car is so much quicker than a WRX.

PS - Mine does n't understeer, the WRX did under load but the STI grips and grips.

Just coming up to the 10,000 miles in my STi and can report it handles much better than my old MY00 turbo, is faster, and much more comfy.....

Funny how everyone thinks WRXs started as an MY01 . STI is 200+kgs more and 20bhp less says I wouldnt be too impressed in performance stakes but it depends what you are use to and what you are after from the car. Oh and I have a short shift 6 speed box without the 6th ratio

Wouldnt say mine understeers either. Car is just so much better in every way to my old 99MY. Just make up your own minmd rather than listen to views on here .

Sorry, guys, I didnt explain that too well.

An STI understeers less than those WRX things, but more than an Evo such as Colie's.

I suppose you are talking about the AYC? FYI, that actually induces understeer.

I'm not talking about staying on the road in the sense of keeping the rear in line, since I was supposing that you knew how to drive and would not misunderstand me. Not only did you, but also tried to make fun, which really makes you look stupid! LOL
I was talking about not having to let off the throttle all the time because the damn car wont go straight!

Happy cruising LOL

Claudius what you dont understand is I actually like EVOs and winding the owners up . Me and cryptwalk and a load of other owners had a great chat the other night talking about scoobs, evos , BMs etc.

Claudius,

you weren't driving it hard enough - if you keep on the power the new front diff kicks in and drags the front round - in fact use a lot of power and snap oversteer is a much more difficult challenge with the new Sti.

I liked it compared to my MY99 Sti with a few suspension tweaks - thought it was a much more sophisticated chassis - was a bit disappointed at the lack of power thats all.

ba$tard did not ring to get me that test drive!...oh well may be i won't even bother to call him...if they can't be bothered ...niether can i!

And that AYC...great for keeping the car where 'it' thinks it should be....but can hinder that nice little 'slidy slidy' feel when you feel like it!..

Claudius, i knew what you meant

Claudius,

you weren't driving it hard enough
I wasnt driving, I was a passenger

thanks for that piece of information I'll let the person who drove the car at the time know

thought it was a much more sophisticated chassis
I know of another brand of car that has an even better chassis

was a bit disappointed at the lack of power thats all.
I totally agree. I am disappointed at the lack of power of all the cars I have tried to date.
