Over in france 95 or 98 octane is pretty much run of the mill...

Optimax? I'm not sure if they have that.....

Plus alot of people flash at scoobs in France there apparently well liked, scared me at first though!

Guys,

I'm taking my girlfriend to Paris next weekend (Friday 23rd). I'm thinking of getting the train, from Folkestone I think? Any idea what time of day is best to go (i.e. peak/off-peak travel)?

Also, any experience of how the French drive or care their cars? I'm currently spending about £3.1K on mine (3/4s of which is bodywork albeit the bus company will reimburse me for most of it) and don't want it dented or bruised in anyway.

Cheers,

Kevin

Don't go or you'll be so P***ed at the state of the UK road system. Seriously if you are driving Paris can be a bit scary the peripherique is like the M25 (possibly worse). In the Cities they don't seem to care much about their cars I've seen several bumps a bit of shouting then they just drive off! They also don't seem to have any rules for roundabouts always stay on the inside lane until just by the turn off they want then go for it; generally they usually all ignore the speed limit and can really go for it. But don't be put off they have some of the finest roads in Europe now and don't it show.

NewWRX,

Thanks for the tips, I think I'll aim to get there and back in one piece, but leave the car in secured parking (if there is any) during my stay and take the metro, SNCF or walk to get around.
