Any other bright yellow speed cameras out there?
#1
Someone has painted the speed camera in Newport Pagnell bright yellow. They've done a good job of it, but I can't make up my mind if it's an official job or a vigilante paint job.
Are there any yellow cameras anywhere else?
Given that cameras are supposed to be a speed detterent, it certainly does a much better job now.
Regards
Kurt

Of course, the flip side of painting them bright colours is that then people would only slow down as they went past the camera and then speed up the other side of it again. At least if people don't know where they are on a strech of road they are more likely to drive at the speed limit for longer. This theory works well only if they are positioned in proper places (outside schools etc)...

There are a couple of Red Light Cameras on the A10 just North of the M25 which have recently been painted a pale yellow - presumably by the council as there are about 4 of them and they've been like that a few months now....

Earlier this year the Plymouth police 'saw the light' and painted a Gatso Yellow with red stripes as a trial.
Accidents in the road were drasticaly reduced, seems they have now realised advertising accident blackspots can reduce accidents. (funny I could have told them that) Since then more have started to change colour, lets hope this craze spreads.

I know of the ones on the A10 that Matt has mentioned. Slightly off topic, but I do like Surrey County Council's policy of painting them green to match in with the trees and bushes (bless 'em, one of the locals must have taken offence at the 'huge ugly grey cameras') - be warned if you come off the M25 and go down Reigate Hill - you'll see what I mean

all gatsos in Devon and Cornwall have been painted yellow with red stripes .... the police believe that they should be seen to encourage people to slow down.
And the Met has decided to buck the trend and will targetting serious crime rather than speeding drivers .... hail to the Met is what I say .....
