I heard it was a weight saving move, using thin paint
Must admit tho the idea of putting a black vynyl bra on a scoobie doenst fill me with joy. Im sure I saw a post talking about protection for the front leading edge.

My bonnet looks like its been sprayed with pellets ! UK300 only 1 year old and looks like ive been rallying in Corsica !!!

Are scoob's bad for this ? Dealer reckons its normal wear and tear, personally I think the paint is p1ss poor ! Had cars for years and never seen anything as bad as this ! some of the chips are about 4mm by 2mm !!!

Talking

Carpet - 'tis usual (how many miles in that year). Having said that, by the rest of the industry standards, it's crap and I would be tempted to claim on the warranty.

Be polite and persuasive and you may just get it done. Once it's resprayed, get it Armourfended.

Matt

P.S. I heard someone say the paint was 4 microns thick, 2mm sounds like a luxury in comparison...

My MY01 which I got in March last year has covered 35,000+ miles.

The roof had to be resprayed when a stone chip when bad. The bonnet and front of the car have been been blasted.

I tried to claim under the warrenty, guess what is doesn't cover stone chips!

Love the car - hate the paint strength.

mark_wrx: disagree bout stonechips purely from tailing.

I had some ***** bomb past me thru resurfaced road, i was doing 5-10mph and right over to the left, he bombed past and i saw the stone fly in, whack the bonnet then the screen. Its DENTED the bonnet as well s taking the paint off, and chipping the windscreen.

Its not always about how well you drive yourself!!!
(Although this does not account for loads being on the bonnet )

mark wrx giving it the old its how you drive crap are you saying that only scooby drivers are tailgaters what about all the escort bmw nova gangs they have bearly any stone chips on there cars

in fact every time i see a beat up escort with a 17 year old in it it gives me the hump becouse every panel of there car is dented but on the bonnet there is barely a stone chip or is that becouse they are better drivers than scooby drivers

i dont know what my yours is but has it had a front respray thus good quality paint

i think the best mod you can do is get a good quality respray
