Thumbs down

How in gods name do you get it that good????

Seriously, yes 18 is about right - unbelievable isnt it?? one of the pleasures of owning a Scoob I am afraid.

In my experience if you attach a trailer to the back and put a top box on you will achieve 26mpg quite easily!! I dont hang about either!!! Subaru's wind tunnel must have been out of action when the design for the aerodynamics was approved!!

I have an old Escort Cabriolet for the summer and the joy of NOT looking at the fuel gauge every few miles is great!! by the way, at 98,000miles it STILL manages 36mpg day in day out - brilliant!!

The Impreza has become the 3rd car!!

I used to own a Porsche 968. Great fun and half fuel consumption (really! 34 mpg). But then - the Impreza is more than twice the fun.

my average is 26 mpg.

best was 32 mpg on a tour - no town - no boost.

average half-tank is 160 miles.
hammering it half-tank is 120 miles.

I use SUL - good for an average 2 more mpg over NUL.

i used to have an astra TD - 49 mpg average... took bad to it at first... but not anymore! bruuuumm

Bit of both really... It is a stupid car to do high miles really (it would be about as cheap for me to run a second car for the week and just use the scooby for the weekend) but I do enjoy the driving and as half my miles are done on windy roads it is worth the money (or I am mad!!).

I get 24 mpg week in week out (50% hammering the car on country roads 50% motorway). Drops to around 20 round town though (94WRX).

It is worth pointing out that as Gold Wheels are heavier than silver wheels then the mpg drops off quite significantly - mind you, your testosterone levels have dropped quite drastically too - so I suppose its swings and roundabouts really

The handbags and stilletoes are also heavier than trainers and a can of export!!

Cool

Mr Lewis,

Where I agree that changing from 16" Silver to gold wheels will decrease mpg, moving from 16" silver to 17" gold will actually improve things.

This is due to the reduced tyre profile = less overall weignt = better mpg.

There is a scientific formula to prove this, I just haven't finished making it up yet

Yes that MAY be the case - but the formula I have looked up from the 'Mans Guide to being a Man' says:-

1 Gold Wheel = 1 demented deluded sheep

Therefore 4 Gold Wheels = 4 demented deluded sheep BUT 4 demented deluded sheep = 1 sad soul who follows the crowd and has NO individual taste.

Its funny that this formula exsists, but its true - you tell some people that Mica Pink and Gold Wheels look cool, show them that someone else has that set up and he/she will tape record the exhaust note and go and copy the escaped nutter in the Pink Mica!!!

SAD SAD SAD SAD SAD - where is the individuality amongst Scooby drivers??? Tony Burns drives on Gold Wheels so they MUST be great I hear being shouted around the world - WRONG!!!! - some slitty eyed mental case with pots of money is PAYING him to smile while looking like a right girlie!! sorry Tony!! Take the money mate!!

Pete
