Question

For the money - only ask as nothing ever seems to happen on their website. Last time FAQ updated was 2002, more peeps use scoobynet forums over SIDC. You can't login to SIDC website so therefore no members area I guess. Can't imagine spending £25 just for the mag ??

So it's been updated this year then. Your point is?
Me thinks there are various savings to be had if you have SIDC membership. Such as discount serviceing.

I got discount on my insurance for being a member! the insurers said it showed that I was an enthusiast, not a boy racer. Nice.

Firstly, I would just like to point out that the "blackbeastcrap" user has NOTHING to do with me. I beleive it is somone who is trying to take the mick out of me. So don't confused, *this* is the real me

I am an SIDC member, and have been for a while. Why? I'm not sure, guess it is beacause it was at the time one of, if not the only, scooby club there was.

Being an import owner the discounted servcing does not help, not does discounted parts from dealers. But other places do recognise the discount, so I have had some benefit from it in the past.

I must say that if you intend to do trackdays then there is no better club. I know, I know, I've been very anti-trackday in the past, but I've mellowed a bit. I've still not got on track, and prob never will, but I HAVE spectated and passengered, and can say that the SIDC days have been some of the best organised events I've been to. And coming from me, this is big respect to the them!

I know that many people feel that the SIDC does not seem to offer anything for them, and well, I guess it's partly true. I dunno if I am going to renew my membership or not, but prob will. Why? well, if I'm not a member I can't change anything with my comments, whereas if I am a member I can attend the AGM and make any feelings known.

I saved a tenner on somi autostyle mats for my import with SIDC discount and also got in donno cheaper on SIDC day . Also brought a bit of SWRT stuff from Cheam Subaru via mail order and got discount from them. Plus you get the mag and stickers and the tracks days.

I used to be when I got my first scoob. April 00.

There seemed a hell of a power battle going on between old (we've always done it this way) and new (but the internet is out there and we ought to make use of it) people. In the end I got fed up with it and didn't renew, even though I lost out on the mag, which I thought was great.

Am getting "free" SIDC membership as part of the insurance on the new motor. I get the impression that it is better than it was and track day info is as good as ever.

adamm,

You can loging to the Members Area, if you are a member.

For the £25 per annum I get a bunch of useful stuff.

1. I get some club mags, which whilst are not always full of fantastic stuff, they are interesting to read. They are created by members giving up their free time so I don't expect much, they have a life after all.

2. I get to meet a bunch of like minded, decent people (but you're right, Scoobynet is good for this too).

3. I get well organised, friendly, social trackdays at a very reasonable cost.

4. I get discount servicing at a variety of garages.

5. I get a discount on various products from various places. Example, I just spent £280 on Armourfend on my car, which would have been £311. So I'm a fiver up on that alone.

6. I get to, in some small way, support the UK Subaru scene.

All in all, I don't see how you can go wrong with the £25.....

Well there seems to be a mass debate going on here, the SIDC is run by people that give up their spare time to run a successfull car club that brings like minded people together, also they run well organised track days that has trackside assistance ,days out for the family a club magazine ,discounts ECT .I know this has all been said previously but at the end of the day the choice is yours. Support the club because if it goes who looses out, us impreza drivers. ENOUGH SAID

Its been said before if you dont like the club dont join its as simple as that. Some people thinks it worth some dont thats fair enough as well.

If you are a member and want to change things or get involved and put your spare time into it and have your say turn up at the AGM and put your points forward.

Cheers

Chris

IMHO
The magazine is intersting, they do promote the cars and organise events and offer a real drivers club option that would be missed if it disappeared.

Even if you do not take part in anything they organise the events are good fun to go to to watch. They also offer a chance for enthusiasts to meet.

Anyway whats another £25.00 these days ..peanuts goto to be worth it!
