she's done it....scooby to skyline, what now??

oh dear oh dear
my girlfriend, princess, has today traded in the my95 for a skyline gtr33 vspec
i am totally unconvinced and gutted. it was a suprise to me, she'd mentioned going for an evo6 later this year, but it was a bolt out of the blue this one i can tell you.
will someone please tell me i'll get to love this car? it tramlines like u wouldnt believe, the seats are rock hard and uncomfortable, and the suspension is gonna have my fillings out. to cap it all, it aint even quick. apparently the thing has an adjustable boost, which is getting tweeked tommorrow, aswell as softer springs. the tuners we use have said we can get 400bhp easily out of this thing, christ it needs it.
HOWEVER........
now she's done this, once the house move is sorted, there is NOTHING stopping me getting an early wrx now
as some will know, i had a my00. part of the problem( if u can call it that )was both of us having a scooby, hers was always the better one, no matter what i did( kids eh? ). however, thats by the by...
for the moment, i only have a 330ci, princess now has this bl00dy skyline thing...can i please stay on this bbs till i get a wrx sorted?
the subaru impreza is the ONLY car ive ever got emotionally attached to, and the thought of not having one parked outside is a genuinely awful one. i feel quite choked about this
i have a budget of around 8k, and i'm mates with a guy who imports. he says he can get me a tasty wrx ra for around 8k ( all neccessary paperwork done, conversions etc) is this realistic?
finally, as i say, i'd really like to stay involved with this bbs, as i'd miss chatting with chins, pete lewis, garyc, salsa king, even hoppy
i'm only scoobyless temporarily ok!
is this ok?

Sorry to hear that m8.
However, the Skyline is a great car, so enjoy it.
Then, after a couple (few) months go and buy a Scoob and you'll enjoy it even more.
You know what they say, 'Absense makes the heart grow stronger' and all that.
Cheers,
Tom

Spud, consider yourself lucky.
OK, so the Skyline may not be your first choice, but it IS a stonking car in it's own right, and to have a missus who'd buy such a car is A GOOD THING.
She coulda traded it for a Clio 1.4L or some such rubbish.

Definitely get another Impreza! You know you have to. It's the only way to avoid a life of regrets and missed opportunities (or something).
One word (a few sentences) of caution though. You said about the Skyline - 'the suspension is gonna have my fillings out'.
If that's not you cup of tea, be very wary of the Type RA. It's one of the loudest, hardest, shortest geared etc Imprezas you can get. Great if you don't mind all that, but if you do... get a standard WRX (assuming £8000 is the limit).

princess says i AM VERY lucky to have such a woman as her
well, at the end of the day its her choice. i am DEFINATELY getting another scooby, and it may not take THAT long, couple of months i reckon.
mind you, after she took me to 150mph without even trying today, its starting to grow on me i spose
its booked in for some tuning work beginning of july, so it could work out for the best, plus she wont whinge about me having the same car as her.
also, she now reckons after finishing with the skyline, she wants an evo7...she aint kidding

Get yourself on to the GTR register and learn to love it, Fit an oil cooler tho, or its bye bye to crank bearings, and make sure it's got a 97 octane coverted ecu, tune it (Abbey motorsport) and come and play with the Big boys.
I also went from Scooby to Skyline, but have just bought another scooby, Skyline is just to big to blast around the B roads.

Spudgun,
Get your missus down to SE Engineering in Maldon for some tweekage, they specialise in Nissan tuning and should be able to fiddle around with her setting to make it a bit softer(ooer!)
Regards
Dave
