Renting cars in California
#1
I'm off to sunny California soon and was wondering if any of our American friends can offer some advice on car rental.
Best company, best prices etc?
Any one that rents out 'muscle cars' for a day or two!!!!!!
All advice welcome from fellow Scooby owners.

If you know anyone that works for BT, get their EIN from them and that'll get you 10% discount from Hertz.
I dunno about hiring "muscle cars" but you can usually get a V6 convertible for a little bit extra.
Remember and haggle the price though, under no circumstances pay the quoted daily rate.
Y'all have a nice day now y'hear

Avis is reasonably good - I go regularly to LA
If you have a Delta card or use another US Carrier you can state your a member and most places will give you a circa 20% discount - better to be a member just for this - go to any Delta desk and they should give you a member no till you get your proper card.....
As for muscle cars - well you can get a basic Mustang from Avis - dont know about specialists...
Haggle with the big companies - usually pretty difficult
But you dont have to take out the various types of insurance - but I would - they drive like nutters - especially down to San Diego
Oh - and California is expensive for hiring cars and dearer on fuel and just about everything... else

A tip for those of you going on package holidays that include free car rental: be at the back of the queue, they will hopefully have run out of the basic car and upgrade you FOC, although they will ask you if you'd like to upgrade for an extra $x per day, jut say no then laugh when they give you the keys to a better car anyway.

There's a coincidence.
I'm gonna need to rent a car in San Francisco and drop it off in Seattle. Was going to arrange it when I get there in a months time or so.
Any recommendations/advice?
