Question

Anybody had experience with Lancia's finest?

I avoided getting "involved" with one at the weekend, as i had the family onboard and didn't want to get into a high speed gunfight.

But, next time i'm on my own, should i avoid them, or are they rearview mirror fodder?

I own a uk my99 subaru imp turbo with quite a few mods. But have also owned a 16v intergrale which was also modified to around 300 bhp .the intergrale was a lot faster on top end and acceleration.245 kmh + . but if you raced one which was standard you should beat it.

Question

Why did you sell the Integrale?

If they had made Integrales in standard right hand drive, i'd have had one in a heartbeat.

Was that the biggest auto marketing mistake ever made? Not to Subaru and Audi i guess, who filled the UK market demand with Scoobs and Quattros...

Hi

My frined is coming over with his Delta HF 8v in a couple of weeks, it has a aftermarket chip in it of unkown origin but he has been told it pushes out around 250bhp......it is gonna be great fun blasting round all our old haunts Im sure im gonna find out what these lancias are made of.

Im pretty sure its gonna be a match for the scooby tho.

A lot of people (Myself included) think that a fully sorted works Integrale Evo 3 would still be competitive in the WRC today. Despite being a lot older and using "outdated technology"
My mate has an 16v Integrale which he is planning to chip. It is insane now so I can't imagine what it will be like after. I have a lot of time for Growlers. Pity I dont have enough money to get one...

A friend of mine has a slightly modified Integrale Evo3. Peak HP, performance and pull is post 80MPH in 4th gear.

My UK +SSBox +AirFilter will stay with him, if not a little faster to 60/70 then it's bye bye...

I went to the goodwood easy track day with 3 lancia evo's and a modded Mitsi lancer evo 5 yesterday (there was also a v60 corrado with us but he was well out of his league).

There was a 16v evo 2 lancia tuned to nearly 300 in yellow which looked stunning.
a red 16v integrale tuned to almost the same, and a red 8v evo 1 cat in standard trim.

My findings were as follows.

8 valve evo cat only hitting 1 bar due to new turbo and poor actuator was no match at all anywhere.
The 16 valve evo 2 was VERY quick, acceleration was similar till the speeds were 120+ then i could pull away a little, but if either hit boost earlier than the other, neither could make much ground on the other till the speeds got quite high then i started to pull away.
The 16 valve integrale was quick from low speeds but i also pulled away over a ton. (though i later spoke to him and found out a water hose was loose, so this may have been why as he did start taking it easy).

They also seemed to handle a little better than the scoob, looking and feeling more composed round bends maybe something to do with shorter car or wider track, am not sure.

You have to bear in mind that these cars are 9 years plus, and they have standard things like 4 pots + other bits that are still missing on many 'performance' cars.

A dealer friend has one sitting in his garage at the mo, red evo 1 with full highback leather, stunning car k plate for 11 grand i think it is.

For the record i have an sti 5, linked, hitting 1.4 bar, hks exhaust, ss downpipe, blitz air filter. So not exactly standard, but it is missing a little on boost at high revs, its not the plugs as they are recent so am suspecting a ht lead giving up.

The other point with Integrales is that being a 10 year old car, they weigh so much less than modern cars (even Scoobs), which makes them pretty frisky with 200+bhp pulling less than a ton. They don't have all the side impact bars etc etc ...

Low weight is why the MkI and II Golf GTIs were good cars -- they weighed less than 1000kg all in, compared with the new Golfs at 1250kg+

Unhappy

I owned one, an EVO 1. Yes it was quick and it handled like a hot hatch but the build quality was awful - lots of rattles and knocks, constant electrical niggles and it chewed suspension bushes for fun! oh and i had 2 services of over £800 each!!!

DazW

PS after owning one i wont be buying an italian built car again!!!

Cammy,
I am a freelance so I am officially poor unless I do loads of work. Still can't afford a Growler.

DazW -- I stand corrected on the weight thing. Could have sworn they were lighter than that ....
