Why do you want equal length anyway?

if you want a hair dryer, why not buy a lancer?

There are reasons for equal length, but I think the reasons for unequal length are more compelling and and retain the characteristic burble of the standard engine.

Aside from this, save you money and listen to steve.

Wink

Err,

None, why not just port the standard ones and prehaps change the turbo up pipe to one of the Zerosport jobbies?

Adam,

I was also dissuaded by the loss of the lumpy sound with u/equal length manifolds. Just getting a DP instead.

HKS Do a set, with a flex pipe on them, I think they are expensive, I know Torque Developments can get them as they are an HKS suplier, not sure if Scobysport, Scoby mainia can get HKS they may do their own versions.

Cool

I quite like the tuned unequal length headers from MRT for sound quality... apparently they work quite well too.

Well I think mine is the nuts.

Prefer the sound as the noise inside the car is less obtrusive.

The midrange response and pull is tremendous.

I am running the SS d/p, magnex mid and P1 rear silencer too.

You need to try it before you knock it !!

Mick

er I thought elmf actually reduced bhp at the top - I thought the point of them was to increase torque significantly lower down but that was at the expense of peak bhp?

I've had the HKS one on for a while now, the mid-range benefits are excellent and I certainly haven't noticed any loss at the top-end,it is improved if anything. The HKS one is actually not quite equal length but has obviously been well designed, and because it is robot-built, it is a fair bit cheaper than the hand crafted ones.Build quality is excellent(as it always seems to be with HKS stuff), manual/instructions are apalling(as they always seem to be with HKS stuff), and I reckon the sound change - while a bit mundane on tickover - is fantastic higher up the rev-range, I reckon it's much more of a thorough-bred engine note than it used to be , quite akin to an Alfa boxer-engined 'howl'.
As space is now at a premium (the FMI piping gets in the way a bit) and there are consequently a lot of vulnerable electrics in the vicinity, the precaution was taken of 'lagging' the manifold which has not only lowered underbonnet temperatures considerably but also has the added benefit of increasing the efficiency of the manifold.Very(comparatively) cheap and definitely to be recommended.
