You need your best friend to be a MOT tester for that, not a stranger. Get a sports cat!

Even if somebody on here knew one they are not going to post any of their details on the web where it could possibly get them in trouble.

DVSA Fraud inspector enters the chat....

"The DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) has reported that, in 2021 to 2022 it uncovered 1,324 incidents of MoT fraud, 710 of which were the most serious, relating to dishonesty and negligence.

The government body also reported that it banned 127 Authorised Examiners from running Vehicle Testing Stations, and 288 from the MoT scheme"

Ban from testing, big fine, criminal record and potentially prison. Yeah sure, roll on up with your decat and they'll happily lose their £30K a year salary and put their employer's business in jeopardy for the price of a few beers.

Yeah,i think the days of sticking the probe up the exhaust of a Nissan Micra instead of your scooby are long gone.

Not really. What the DVSA have been trialling is a camera upload facility for smart devices so number plates and VINs can be uploaded direct as opposed to being manually entered. Mainly as a means of data entry error prevention.

What an increasing number of garages do have though is video appraisals, which is part of their own IT system (Garage Hive as an example). Where the mechanic runs through any issues found whilst working on the vehicle. This maybe done during an MOT for the customer's benefit. But it is nothing to do with MOT and not mandated or enforced nor any immediate plan to do so.

Also workshops often have CCTV which means if there ever was a fraud investigation, recoding equipment would be seized and examined for evidence of any wrongdoing.

DVSA have been known to operate stooges to find and catch dodgy testers. Also with the modded car scene there's too many blabber mouths that spout in public that "mate works at xxx garage, he'll sort ya" and suddenly word spreads to the wrong people: It's very easy to report a dodgy tester. Contact form is on the .gov website. The risk vs reward just isn't worth it. Plus I think the car enthusiast scene would be a lot better if the cars were all legit: It sets us apart from the idiots and their ****boxes.

Nothing more satisfying than being pulled over by plod because they think something is illegal with my car. Knowing full well everything is perfectly legal both for construction and use laws and MOT.
