Default Morning guys, I need sum advice

My 03 blobeye won't start, it says on the engine management, crank sharft position sensor fault. I have changed the sensor but there was a big dent to the bottom of it . The engine turns over but won't start. The obd reader say fault code p0336. Any ideas please, also how much for a engine rebuild if needed it the non turbo.

Big dent in the old crank sensor or in the new one?
Did this non-start issue occur suddenly or after you'd done some work on it?
Tell us as much background as poss. Why do you think it needs a rebuild?

It happened when driving I think, it just lost all power no revs nothing. Towed it home connected obd reader, to see if I could find the fault and crankshaft position sensor. Took the old one out and big dent in the bottom of the sensor. Replaced the old sensor with a new one and the cleared the fault code, but returns when turning engine off and on again. It sounds like when trying to start engine there is no fuel. Hope this helps!

Hmm... Does the fault code return BEFORE you crank the engine or only after you've turned it over? In other words, does it come back as soon as you turn on the ignition?
The dent in the sensor I can't image what's gone on there....

The fault code only returns once you turn the engine off and then turn it back on again, I did wounder if the power train control module is at fault. Not sending a signal to inject fuel, so it won't start
