UK TURBO RECENTLY BROKE DOWN. STARTED OFF WITH SLIGHT HESITATION, LEADING TO NO POWER AND A RIDE HOME WITH THE AA MAN. APROX. 5 MINS. RUNNING FROM FIRST INDICATION TO HARD SHOULDER. CAR WILL NOW SLOW IDLE BUT CANNOT APPLY THROTTLE. THERE IS NO FUEL PRESSURE. IS THERE ANY CHANCE THIS COULD BE A FAILED CRANK SENSOR AND IF SO HOW COULD I TELL. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS MOST WELCOME.

 

What model year ?

 

I doubt it will be the crank sensor - the engine won't fire without it.

Do a search for "diagnostic connectors" and similar things on the BBS here and you should find something helpful regarding using the under dash diagnostic connectors to make the chech engine light flash the fault codes up. That should help identify the fault.
