My STI version 1 has developed a problem where it fails to start when the engine is luke warm. It turns but does not fire. It also cut out after a couple of hundred yards driving today. Has anyone had this problem or have any idea what the cause could be???

When this happened on my car the crank position sensor was at fault. Other people have had the same problem and found a different cure though, such as a temperature sensor.

Had almost identical problem on my 95 wrx a few months ago- was a faulty camshaft position sensor.

Connect the two diagnostic plugs up under the dash and get a fault code from the check engine light on the dash....cam sensor is code 13 if I recall.

Cheers guys. I thought it would be one of the temp sensors. I just hope I can recreate the problem when it's in the garage!! we'll know for sure next week. Does the select monitor always pin point which sensor is at fault? and how much were they to replace?
