Default Mishimoto radiator Impreza 2003

Hi all,

Fitted the radiator today but the overflow pipe will not connect as the radiator is thicker than the original/pipe now too short.

Did anyone have the same problem and if so did you extend the pipe or have to buy a new one - as Mishimoto states the radiator needs no modifications?

Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you all in advance

Ade

I wouldn't use the rad cap that Mishimoto include as its a 2 way valve cap, because of how the Subaru cooling system is designed you need to put an OEM one on which is a one way valve. I took my car in for some work in the past, the first thing i noticed when i went to collect the car is they had changed the rad cap, they explained why it had to be changed to an OEM one, for some reason Mishimoto put a 2 way valve cap in which is no good for the Subaru cooling system

Cheers - totally agree - the cap only on while I fit it. Original one way cap back on.

Regards

You've the wrong cap on your rad it should be 1.37kpa. That one will blow of too early. The header tank cap should be weaker than the rad cap and the rad cap should have no spring in/on it

This is the one you need then put the one you have on the header tank. Don't fit a 1.3 bar cap on your header tank they argue with each other. Fit a 1.1 bar.
