Default Gc8 grille badge reconditioned

I merely wanted to see if I could recondition the paintwork on the back of the grille badge. Carefully using a flat head tweezer I took off the battered badge and sanded off the paint. I mixed in a water based paint and it worked alright. I don't think I can ever afford £150 for a new pink badge

Sand off background

Right is original I reconditioned. Left was black background I made pink not as good as deeper original.

Flat head tweezer lift off the badge

Well done good effort. Not sure if used water based paint though. Proof will be in how long the paint lasts, bought a cheap replica set for my Blobeye a while back and they faded within a few months. Cheap Chinese rubbish.

Thanks very much! What I found is the double sided tape preserves the paint and stops it cracking. The badge itself is quite eternal but not the paint

Double sided tape? How would that work? Think the sun fades the paint.

When I took off the badge the area where the tape stuck was preserved. Area with no tape the paint was cracked and needed painting. That's my experience anyways. Will report back in a few years 😅
