Abw arches on jdm sti bugeye
Im thinking of putting them on my sti, but will i devalue it, there is a few wee rust bubbles on the back arch, im thinking cut it all out and put on abw arches, or just repair pannels? Any advice would be great thanks

Looks lovely, I'd leave standard. If your thinking you might sell in a few years, then wouldn't bother.
But if you have bubbles on the rear you need to check up in the inner arches. As that's where they rot.
Unless like mine the original owner paid out for Subaru under-seal package from new. Cost him a fair bit. Bought another classic that had a few rusty bubbles on the arches needed new sills and rear strut turrets rebuilding.

yes they put people off as everyone knows that people add them when they dont want to do a proper repair of the arches in case they find the other rust that normally hiding under the turrets lol ,, just repair it properly with decent replacement panels and get someone who knows what they are looking for to do it so they can check for other rust whhile they are doing it

Lol just what I think when I see them on an Impreza, unless it's heavily modified and you can see they have been fitted for looking and to add more width to the wheels.

Aren't they an American company and that name you mentioned @Jaygsi just the main EU distributor? Automotive panels generally aren't galvanised anyway but use a zinc based e-coat and that needs ground off before welding no matter what the panels are. If you use a proper epoxy primer as a base then the metal shouldn't be an issue. The SubieSavers panels have a good reputation in the US and are 1.2mm vs most aftermarket stuff allegedly being 0.8mm (I've not touched either to confirm but I am in the process of ordering from Ray so should have them shortly).
Also, to make abundantly clear, Ray's prices are on a par with the SubieSavers website and any marginal savings are more than lost by the duties you'd have to pay with importing, plus shipping of large panels. The linked thread above which references cost was down to a misunderstanding in what parts I was after between Ray and I.

On the link I posted Ray did comment too. Its as suspected his prices include the import duty and tax where as on the main site its the wholesale (?) non vat price.

I know, it was my thread. I just wanted to make sure people didn't look at the original post and miss the bigger picture that the prices are in fact quite reasonable.

I just left my car with Andy Winter-Tas motorsport ,very very good service i must say.
He is booked till April 2025 for underbody restoration but found space for mine to do sills, arches plus front fenders and bumper repaint. It was last call for it otherwise new front fenders will be needed, they started to getting rust in area where mudflaps are fitted.

they are fairly priced but do have a minimum starting price and thats £4k from memory but that does get you quite a bit done ,, its never going to be the finished price as there is always stuff to add on as tour going but its a good starting point
both my restorations came in at just over £7000 each
