Rear towing eye grief
Hi all,
2007 STi.
Today my Bilt Hamber Deox C arrived, so I wanted to put it to the test and soak my rear towing eye assembly....only I can't get it off.
2 of the 3 bolts came out no problem, but the 3rd one just won't come out, it was insanely stiff / tight.
It bolts upwards into a closed off box section of the chassis rail....I think it had a captive nut on the inside of the chassis rail that has sheared off and stopping the bolt coming out?
It's loose, about half undone perhaps, but now I can't loosen it any more.....nor do it back up....it's just spinning in both directions...
I've tried prising under the bolt washer with a flat screwdriver, and using the ratchet socket, but it just won't come out.
Any suggestions? If it is a sheared captive nut, I can't see a way to get a spanner on it as it appears to be boxed off.....

Removing the rear bumper skin should give you access the the chassis rails

Thanks Don, I appreciate your help as always, but mission aborted.
I'll wire brush the granny out of everything, thinly paint on Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 (the purple milkshake) and then most likely just stonechip it.
However, I'm currently soaking some of my 54 plate Passat parts in the BH Deox C and they are doing nicely!
