Default Spec C Hatchback v R205 Hatchback.

I've currently got Torque GT searching Japan for me for a particular Hatchback, it's going to be about being patient as i have a particular look and performance in mind, they are confident in time that the right car will turn up, it has to be in WR blue. they are excellent to deal with btw.

A Litchfield Type 20 in WR Blue would be perfect for me but i know i'm not going to find one, i want to try and replicate the performance of that by importing a car from Japan, what would be the better base car a Spec C or a R205, if their much difference in performance and handling between the 2 that warrants the extra money for the R205 ?

I'm leaning towards the Spec C as i know anything i'd do to the R205 would devalue it like body kits or engine upgrades, im just wondering if the R205 has anything in the spec that would warrant the extra cost.

Don’t forget the brakes on the R205 - they’re pretty special

Have a read of this. The only proper review of the R205 I’ve been able to find.

Also have a look for ‘Juggers’ threads on here of his one that he took to 400 bhp. Still has it as far as I know.

R205 is better than a type 20. It will also hold the value better. All you need is a remap and an exhaust and you'll have 400BHP

Thanks Juggers, so is the R205 engine more powerful than the Spec C, what BHP and Torque is the R205 in standard form and what is the Spec C in comparison ? That's impressive if just a remap will get you 400bhp.

You do pay quite a premium for the R205 in Japan, it's probably around 6K - 8k more depending on mileage and a few other factors.

Yeah, but then you’re stuck with an Audi and who wants that.

I’ll be surprised if decent, sensible mileage examples of the S and R model Imprezas ever fall below £20k again. No more will be made with an EJ20 and a fully ICE.

So your PM's I replied to, you haven't read??

http://translate.google.com/translat...2010%2Fr205%2F
From the above link
R205 Limited number - 400 units
Maximum output [net] 235 kW (320 PS) / 6400 rpm
Maximum torque [net] 432 N ・ m (44.0 kgf ・ m) / 4400 rpm

The Spec C might get the stock STI's 2.0 liter turbocharged boxer engine generating the same 304 horsepower (308Ps) at 6400 rpm and 311 pound-feet (422 Nm) of torque at 4400 rpm, but it's the way the Spec C uses its 304 horses that propels it into another league.

Try fishing in another pond... there’s a lack of bites in this one.
