Default RA-R original prices

I’m sure I read this at the time but to reread it now is mind boggling. Given an average mileage RA-R for sale in the UK now is ball park 25-30k and in some cases plenty more it seems like the sale of the century! Yes fully understand import tax, shipping etc would need adding. Also the currency exchange was somewhat different back then, but all considered you could still kick yourself if you thought about it too much!

£18k in 2007 is about £26k in 2020 with inflation.

To import one in 2007 would probably cost you in excess of £25k or £35k+ in todays money. So buying one today will cost you the same as it would have done 12 years ago...

Totally agree and see that but as someone who tends to buy cars with a view of future gain driving a car for best part of 12/13 years and selling on for near as dammed it what you paid (mileage and condition dependent) is not a bad prospect. Yes you lose out on servicing etc more likely than not but either way selling with minimal loss is always an attractive proposition.
