Is it normal to be able to hear the by pass valve dumping air?
When driving my WRX-S at low speed, if I build a small amount of boost and let off of the throttle I can hear a woosh like a dump valve only quieter. I'm assuming that it is the bypass valve and not a leak of some sort because the car holds boost fine.
Do you have an induction kit? As my mate had one and also removed the resonator in the induction pipe. It gave a very low woosh sound, even though he had a recirculating valve on it.
Don't have any noise in the classic? Although I know I have a resonator in the passenger front wing.
I couldn't remember ever hearing it in any of my 3 classics, which was another reason for asking the question (It has been about 12 years since I had my last one).

Unlike the STi hatch/saloon and all earlier models the WRX hatch, apparently, doesn't have a resonator fitted.
