Question timing belt - garage

Hello,

i have just recently acquired a 2007 2.5 litre turbo petrol Subaru impreza wrx with 57k on the clock, the car has apparently had a timing belt change in 2018 when it was on 50k but i would like to get it redone for peace of mind now i own the car.
how much roughly should i be looking at to have the belt, water pump and pulleys changed?

Does anyone know of any reputable companies or Subaru specialists around the east Yorkshire / Lincolnshire area? i have heard of A1s in hull but i have never seen any work done by them?

thank you for you help.

between £250-400 depending if using Oem parts. Don't think i have heard of any timing belts snapping on a scooby ( only poorly fitted timing belt guids and tensioners losing the tension )

From research a dayco cam belt kit is around £150 on the 2.0, not many belt manufactures so just stick to one of the main ones like dayco, Auto data say 1.9 hours to do the job.

Fit a decent water pump preferably oem as if it fails it's the same job again to replace it.

Not having done it myself it looks like just removing the rad fans would give you enough clearance but if they remove the rad then you would also need some deionised water and anti freeze.

Also on the 2.0 the crank pulley is 2 piece and wears, you normally notice a wobble when looking at it, if that's the case replace it while you at it.

Not sure how much of that relates to the 2.5 but pretty sure there very similar to the 2.0.

Nonsense about water pump replacement, in general they last the life of the car

Agree with Alyn mine was the original one from 1995 on my hillclimb car.

Op use Richard Henry motorsport in Bradford, slightly further than you wanted to travel. But I can highly recommend them

I would never do a cam belt without replacing the water pump, for the cost why risk it? even if the pump it's self still functions bearings wear out.

"Generally" is not a good enough reason not to do it.

Just call Richard Henry’s, ask for the owner Andy and tell him joe from Scoobynet sent you. He will look after you, he’s a good guy and massively knowledgable

It's not a difficult job. I would remove the rad anyway but make sure you know what sort of antifreeze is in it. Removing the rad leaves a lot of coolant in the system and antifreezes don't always mix. If in doubt refill with water and empty again. Do this 3 or more times then refill with new antifreeze, keeping a note of what type you used.
While they're at it, a decent mechanic should -
Check hoses
Check A/C and alternator belts. The A/C one is a stretch belt. The manual says cut it off and fit new. They can be reused but are a sod to get back on.
Look for oil leaks from cam and crank seals.
You could also consider replacing spark plugs, fitting forged pistons, 3" exhaust and replacement clutch. Then again I might be getting carried away with the last few 😁
