Default Anybody owned this car or know the history

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201910123241490?advertising-location=at_cars

Interested
in the STI Spec D above, was wondering if a previous owner is on here/anyone know whos owned the car etc?

not sure how to check common issues like head gasket etc, dealer says comes with 3 months warranty on engine and gearbox so if headgasket or piston damage would that be covered under warranty??

Hi mate, I've owned 2 spec d's and regarding the sh1te 2.5...make sure you take it for a spirited drive, that's how I found out the head gasket was gone as the temperature shot up...if he drives like miss daisy then that doesn't tell you much and you could be left with a big bill, lovely cars by the way.... warranties are not normally worth the paper they are written on , as above spirited drive check for a stream of bubbles one or two is not abnormal but if it’s not stopping bubbling then walk away , nice cars my friends one had hg issues

I've had two WRX hawkeyes in the past, one was completely standard apart from air filter and catback exhaust but the other had air filter, full decat/exhaust and a mild remap by Andrew carr, I think car was running around 275bhp.
So in theory compared to the remapped one, this car should pull similar to that right?
I don't really understand how boost works but my remapped wrx I'm sure boost kicked in at 3k rpm and stopped around 5k rpm I think.

I agree with everything you said, that price does seem cheap and a rebuild is something I never considered.
I was only interested because of the price... I was actually looking to buy a Hawkeye WRX in white if possible but non for sale.
When I saw this for just over 6k, I thought its a great price for an STI rather than WRX.

I prefer the overall look of the hawkeye and as I've had two previously just makes the choice easier.
Would also consider a blob STI but if I'm being honest probably out of my price range

I would normally buy a car based on overall condition/history rather than mileage, but I couldn't justify spending this sort of money on a car that's clocked almost 130k, sorry I just couldn't do it.

3 month is the minimum a dealer has to give you by law. In theory, yes you're covered. In practice, I've heard many horror stories.
I used to own a Spec D with the PPP pack, great cars..when they work.
One look at that manky engine bay in those pictures tells a story though, not think?

Can anyone confirm, does the 2001 bugeye JDM STI have equal or unequal headers? I've read conflicting info, some saying all JDM cars are equal headers, other posts saying equal headers came in 2003, not sure.
I think I would prefer the signature scooby burble sound.

Equal length headers arrived with Revision C (blobeye) for cars built from September 2002 (0209)

Likewise, I had a Spec D with PPP and it was eventually a great car. Most of the Spec D's with PPP seem to fail at 50 to 60k - this one has the Prodrive exhaust - if it has the PPP map I can't believe it has got to 108k without failing?

Thanks for clearing that up guys.
I would've gone for the fresh import bugeye but honestly, i'm not keen on the front end at all so may give that a miss. Will keep an eye out for any cheap STI's if they go up for sale.
