Default NTN tensioners

Hi guys,
just bought a timing belt kit from ICP, including a new NTN tensioner - the casting of the tensioner is a bit different from the original (less chunky?) - it didn’t really bother me, however I’ve stumbled on some old threads online about them failing and not reliable? Does anyone know anything about this, or if it’s factual etc?

NTN are the original supplier to Subaru albeit they have varied slightly in style over the year depending on exact age / model...........

the Subaru tensioners (in general) don't fail catastrophically albeit they can be found to be weeping on belt change intervals
