AC noise and risk of engine damage
Hi a note of caution , i had what appeared to be a grumbling bearing in the ac compressor , it was actually the little plastic pulley/tensioner underneath it and the compressor was ok , the replacement pulley is around 20£ or so , it’s easy to fit as just needs rad fans taking off , if it does fail it can cause a lot of damage as it can cut into the cambelt so just a point of caution

Greater word of caution! Pulley starts to grumble, guy
goes “it’s only the AC”. Pulley seizes, belt snaps.belt
goes into Cam belt, engine rebuild. I had a noisy pulley, put it off for a while as wanted to wait for my
coilovers fitting on my Bug at the same time. Dropped it at garage to get work done and they wouldn’t even drive it. They had a regular customer have his pulley seize, belt snap etc. Solution? Engine rebuild! It happens and good garages won’t drive your car because of it. That is actually great customer service rather than trying to just make cash out of you.
