help! fuel leak.
nipped out to move my car in the works car park and noticed a wet patch where i was parked and the car is pi$$ing out petrol quite a bit. got underneath and its coming from the rear passenger side near the back door just before the rear wheel and looks like it might be fuel lines running up the side of the fuel tank? is there any valves or the like around there or is it just a fuel line running to the tank? it could be the tank has been holed but it does seem to be coming from a hose/fuel line i can see there. i take it the lines there will be hard rubber fuel pipe and not metal? thanks for any advice lads.

It will be metal fuel pipe where it goes through the body and up under the back seats.
The metal fuel pipe has a plastic anti corrosion cover on it and usually corrodes just above it - if you are lucky, it may be possible to cut the corroded pipe back and fit a longer rubber hose to it.

Lift the rear seat if it is a classic and check the pipes as the pipes rust as they come through the grommet coming into the car and the petrol runs down the pipes and drips onto the floor underneath near the rear of the passenger door. Merlin24 beat me to it.

i think you are on the money merlin, found this video of a fozzy with what looks like the exact same leak in the same place. it does look like that plastic connection is where its coming from. mine runs down the pipe from there in the same way as the car in the video. so maybe cut that off and add longer rubber hose? thanks for the suggestions, big help.

The one I did was a 54 plate blob wrx which was registered in Scotland and really scabby underneath prob due to the higher use of road salt up there.
I did cut the metal fuel line back enough and used a longer rubber fuel line ( suitable for Fuel Injection ) and new fuel line clips.
Im pretty sure the metal fuel line is a one piece up to the fuel filter

had a look earlier. mine seems to be leaking right at the grey rubber grommet part actually on the floor not the bit further down at the plastic connector. i pushed it back in to the rubber grommet so it must be broken off inside there and the petrol isnt dripping out anymore but im worried where the petrol is going now? probably under the back seat? gonna have to look again tom and take the back seat out.

yep mine is holed and leaking around where the pipe goes through the grey grommet. i pushed the pipe from below through the grommet so it stopped dripping down the pipe but it was squirting out above the rubber grommet under the back seat. will need to remove a section and replace with rubber fuel pipe i think.
