Got my new MY02 WRX yesterday.
(Well in fact it's MY01 spec with a-pillar antenna but who cares...)
Car is MUCH more refined than my old MY99. Very quiet on the
motorway, feels really stable (a "big car" feeling) yet handles
really well. Even the doors close with a much softer "thud" than
in the old shape. In short it just generally feels like better
quality.
Will post pictures of the old and new in the gallery once I take
some. Old was 555 blue, new is red mica. I felt red suited the
new shape better than blue.
... 1450km of running-in hell still to go.

Hi, you have done the same as me, gone from MY99 to MY02, though mine has the aerial in the rear screen, plus illuminated ignition switch . I agree with all your comments, though I feel my new car lacks the mid range surge that my MY99 had. Still, the extra quality of the interior and the fact that its a more rewarding drive makes up for it

I couldn't agree more, something that I have now realised after passing the 1000 mile running in period. PPP looks like an essential purchase. I am hoping that as the engine loosens a little more power may be available. Turning the air con off does improve the smoothness and responsiveness though I have noticed.
