Default JDM wrx engine.

What's the difference between a newage JDM wrx engine, and a uk spec wrx engine, apart from the power output?
Apologies if this has been done before somewhere.

Different cams, AVCS, mapped for higher octane fuel. TGV deletes presumably also.

Good read here:

Thanks, that's an interesting read. So what crank/pistons does the JDM wrx have? Are they twinscroll turbo?

TD04 turbo. Big port heads I think. Obvioulsy only one CAT. Higher compression although can't find much on the pistons. I believe that the Bugeye JDM WRX was also forged like the STi.

Most of the comparisons are between JDM and USDM engines online. The JDM was designed purely for the domestic market (no ****...hehe) and therefore took advantage of the lower emissions laws and higher octane fuel. Then they made a "world" engine to meet much wider emission standards and fuel qualities. These were then in turn redesigned further to meet specific markets (USDM for example).

So we get the World engine in Europe and Australia and then the USDM is modified further to meet their emmissions and fuel.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. At least until the A14 upgrade is finished and my children don't need me for taxi and bike/music instrument lugging duties.

But that ad you posted on pistonheads does look very good. Glad it's miles away.
