Det damage ?
it’s a bit of a how long is a piece of string question , 2.5 was rebuilt it was running ok , forged pistons and race crank bearings arp head bolts etc , bedded it in properly after the bedding in was done, it seemed to be sluggish top end after around 3500 to 4000 rpm plus , i think it probably did a max of 500 miles most of in sensibly , i took it for a map check happy i did that as the lack of grunt was det caused by a failing fuel pump plus higher boost after rebuild , the ecu was compensating when it was detting , car runs ok now , no bad signs of any thing , with forged internals is det likely to have caused much or any damage , the rebuild was about 14 months ago

put an endoscope down the spark plug holes and take a look, could be fine, could have damage.
Det can damage even forged pistons so only way is a visual inspection
