Default What grade oil to use

Hi all, after doing a search on here I'm none the wiser. On one thread it recommends everything from 5w-40 to 15w-50 and I'm fairly certain there's a mention of 15w-60

The car in question is a 2005 wrx wagon with 106k on the clock, FSH and running PPP.

Apparently the manual states 5w-30 but I may be wrong, I'm thinking the general consensus is 10w-40 but I see "depends on mileage and state of tune" being mentioned so I thought I'd ask for your advice first.

I'll go and have a look at the old receipts to see if there's any mention of oil used.

Cheers

Can of worms!
I use 15w50
But I recon if we had a survey then 10w40 would come out on top.
Quality is importanter

Cheers guys, what about semi or fully synthetic?

Looking over the receipts there is no mention of what grade but recently it's been semi that's been used and many years ago fully. I'm guessing it won't matter too much.

All depends

If modded and pushing the boundaries of oil temp then a 10/50 is desirable, especially with high miles and the big ends needing that extrsa bit of cushioning

If low miles and standard a 10/40 should be fine

But everyone has their choice

This magic stuff has given me 0.5 extra Bar at cruise and idle for example over the previous 10/40 i was pushing to its limit

fuchs titan race
Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!
Previous owner used this in my car and my engine died

I'm not saying this added to my failure but have since read some negative **** so I will not be using it.

For a standard PPP I would use a fully synthetic 5w40 or 10w40. Millers Nanodrive 5w40 would be my first choice.
