No.
A number of people have asked questions of the seller.
It as the DCCD thumb wheel but no DCCD -odd?
No P1 interior or spoiler - odd?
Both development P1's were white - I have seen and touched one of them.
Prodrive have no record of a blue prototype, the question as already been asked.

I remember seeing this car for sale by its original owner about 5-6 Months ago. It was owned by father and son from new and they were adamant it was a prototype and had a letter from KTG Subaru confirming it aswell I think.
It was A LOT cheaper to buy then though and nothing seems to have changed on the car to warrant the extra £4.5k price hike..!!

No VIN to check.
It's a type R so will be a JDM and have a standard JDM VIN plate as per the letter as it's pre-production.
The plate shown in the picture is the standard 2nd plate as fitted to all P1's
The "production" P1's came with the usual 17 digit VIN as you would expect.
It's interesting that it is "registered" in March 2001 whereas most P1s were delivered in 2000 ?? (Prodrive could have kept it on trade plates until then)
Would have thought as a "prototype" it would be a MY99 or MY00 but that's only possible to check with the VIN.

a few pictures I've managed to dig up from way back in 2008 when the first questions were asked
It's a JDM, 1998 /99, WRX, type R, STi, V5, 2door / 278 going by the Vin code GC8F2DD

found this post from Mike Wood in 2007 re 'show cars'
"..A Type R should have DCCD and no ABS but we wanted the longer gearing of the 4 door and the ABS so couldn't have DCCD although the switch was perhaps still there.
ABS was too difficult to retro-fit so the prototype didn't have it.
The show cars were built from Blue STi V5 Type Rs made to look the part ( we used the white one for development as we had it 'in stock' and couldn't wait for blue ones to arrive.
A P1 isn't a Type R with bits removed, it best described as a V6 4 door built into a 2 door bodyshell with Type R suspension. Bit more complex than that as some parts were fitted in Japan and more were fitted in the UK but it's more correct than saying it's a low spec Type R.

this one was my old car and i was told pretty much the same thing by subaru uk as this letter says,so yes imo it is more than likely another prototype.there where 4 i was told.

It is a prototype of the P1, i saw this about 6 yrs ago on the wr1oc the then owner knew one of the boys on the forum. It was discusssed at length and picked apart just like this thread and the outcome was it is one of the four P1 prototypes.
There were four prototype cars two 2door and two 4door. This one did start out as an import v5 type r but then had the P1 engine, gearbox etc fitted but it didn't get any of the P1 styling or blue seats. It'll come up on a hpi check as EHPC 2 door sonic blue with EHPC being the prototype code for the P1 and standing for Extra High Performance Car.

back then (2011) there was no definitive answer either, there was nothing apart from the Subaru dealers, KT Green's letter saying it was this and it was that
No one from Prodrive or the development team confirmed it was used as a P1 prototype, it never appeared in press clips or media reports
If you go back to basics, a P1 prototype car would have been fitted with Prodrive goodies that the P1's are fitted with today or at least the major changes would have been made (dccd, suspension, quick shift, body styling) how could a car without these items be a P1 prototype
As a type r it may have been used as a comparison car, to see the benefits or failings a Prototype fitted with P1 mods was making
