I think I know this turbo and my advice is save your cash, its an old turbo and it was very laggy at the time. You will spend more cash trying to make this turbo less laggy than actually paying more cash for a descent billet wheel turbo which is worth the spend

I wouldn't take a chance as I would rathr pay the cash for a proven one from Scoobyclinic. You really need to think about resale values if its not the turbo for you?

A one off turbo that most people won't buy will loose lots of cash but a one that everyone wants will loose minimal even in a year or two.

Aiming for 400bhp I would go with at least a 460bhp turbo as it won't be long down the road you will want more power and the bigger turbo will pull just as nce at a lower power level, plus if you need more than say 460bhp you can map on meth and make 500bhp so you have all bases covered

I looked at the graph of that turbo and it looks as bad as the older version as it doesn't make 400bhp till say 6000rpm then tails off very quickly. Its a turbo you buy if you get it very cheap then you replace it soon after as it wasn't for you as its too laggy and doesn't make the power you want!

Matt,
I've tested two of their 400bhp cores (billet and non billet), together their 450 billet core. They work very very well.

Look at my project thread (in my signature) if you want to read about all the testing I did. Also if you scroll down the TD page you link to, TD published some of my reviews in links given at the bottom of that page.

Turbo Technics T36 is worth a butchers too.
Direct fit bolt on 400-450bhp rated billet turbo that retails at just £900+vat inc the fitting kit.
It's only available through us so feel free to call for more details.

You don't end up saving much by the time you've paid import duty and shipping.

Was this on a 2.0 or 2.5? Can you pop up a dyno chart and who mapped it? I am putting a mdx555-400 on my 2.0 05 STi in a few weeks.
