Default It's been a while!!! Classic rescue!!

Well I wasn't planning on getting another Scooby until I hit 40, a nice excuse to treat myself. I'd set my eyes on a nice standard classic like the very first one I owned in 2003. I was browsing gumtree on Friday and came across a modified my99, I almost scrolled down but the number plate caught my eye. It looked familiar. I looked at the mod list and thought it looked OK. Although the full charge speed body kit and racing seat wasn't really my thing. I could have sworn it was indeed the first Impreza I owned so I did a vehicle check and sure enough my private plate showed on the history. I had to have it back!!! After 2 sti type uk's I always wished I'd kept the classic. It was fate!!!! I bought it on Sunday :-)

Can you believe that. 13 years later finding your first Subaru whilst you are in the market for one!!!!

It needs some TLC, rear arches. Putting some bits back to standard, hoping the charge speed kit will come off ok. Rear offside window doesn't work, boot leaks, indicators don't click off with an omp wheel, battery light came on even though it's had a new battery recently, I do like the full RB5 interior!!! But most of all its mine again!!!

It's nice to see it's still a busy forum with some great help and advice!!!
Added some before from 2003 and some as it stands today!!

What did the seller say, when you inevitably told him your story?

(Assuming you're not putting the full OEM steering wheel assembly back), then you need one of these:

http://www.tegiwaimports.com/hkb-ste...e8d1668ef42058*

I have it on my 1999 STi 5.

For a shade under six years I reluctantly 'put up' with the same annoyance, using an OMP boss. lol

But that HKB boss allows you to retain the OEM clockspring and therefore the indicator self-cancelling. Plus it allows the centre hornpush to be retained too.

So you may have to buy a used clockspring off the breakers on here. Or go on eBay.

He was actually well chuffed for me, almost wouldn't believe it but I sent him some old pics with a private plate I had on it, ;-)

Cheers for the advice, it's actually got a HKB boss fitted but the indicators don't work and neither does the horn!!! Could there be a HKB version without the self cancelling and horn such as the one fitted? I am tempted to put the standard wheel back on tbh, it's in the boot. I'm picking up the standard drivers seat tonight as it's got a horrible thrash racing seat to o with the wheel!! The good thing is it's got a good condition RB5 interior!!

I reckon I could if I didn't spend most of my time taking my kids to and from their chosen hobbies, :-)

I've only just got round to washing it!!!

God yes I agree, get rid of that horrible bodykit. Looked so much better before when you had it. Should make a lovely car again.

There is indeed an 'AIRBAG' version (as per mine: OS-224). And a non-airbag version. So it could be you have the latter fitted.

The boss's plastic shroud just pulls off. So pull it off (towards the steering wheel) and you should see or not whether the clockspring is present. (You may have to unbolt and remove the steering wheel first, to get a better view).

Epic fail on my part. Only just realised they're in the thread starter post.

Wow, what have they done to your (once) boodiful motor!

Thank goodness you're returning her to how you had it.

Think he added the picture just before you wrote this post.

So I finally got round to checking. There is no clockspring. I'm thinking about putting the OEM wheel back on that came with the car. Either way I'll need the clockspring. So buy clockspring to fit OEM wheel or buy clockspring plus airbag boss kit!?!
