What letter is on the plate? And yes, do a search on here for VIN, there's been lists.

No bloody versions on wrx's or UK cars, only STI's upto and including the Version 6.
OP, its a phase 2 MY00 (phase 2 being the engine and MY being the model year, 00 denotes 2000).

MY00 would be G
MY01 would be K

I would still call it a version 6

No its not a version anything, dont worry about that, it just confuses the issue, your car is an MY00 UK turbo, no version or anything else.

Technically not a version 6
If it was an STI on the same MY then it would be a version 6

But as Tony correctly says it's a MY01 UK2000

It differs in UK cars, the chassis number has an x or y in it, denotes 99 or 00.
Remember uk chassis codes are longer than JDM.

The "G" isn't the year code. The "H" is the year code.
The UK, Australian, Euro model code pattern is the same as the JDM cars but is one letter ahead.
MY00 JDM is GC8Gxxx
MY00 UK,AUS,EURO is GC8Hxxx

HTH

It's always good to learn Rich
The differences are from MY96 onwards.
I've started adding the UK/AUS/EU cars to the database too. Upto MY95 so far:
