Default Sump washer

Hi all. Sorry if its a daft question but im going to do an oil and filter change tommorow, am also going to replace the sump washer and wondered if it matters which way round the new washer goes?

As it's a Subaru yes it is important. You need to fit the new washer with the left hand side facing down. Also being a Subaru it's vital that before restarting the engine you disconnect your TV from any DVD player or Sky box.
Failure to do this will result in a blown engine.

Agree with most of your instructions but doesn't the new washer fit with the right hand side facing down?

I assume it is the crush type washer.

And you must make sure you remove your wheels before turning over or engine will self destruct.

If its a crush washer itll have a flat side. I put the flat against the sump plug, whether thats right or wrong or doesnt actually matter ive no idea but it doesnt leak!
